Thoughts on the Olympic opening ceremony

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

March of Nations

Its my favorite part of the Olympic opening ceremony, as the athletes from every nation march into the stadium under the flag of their country.
It hits me every time. This is what it will be like after Jesus returns.
People from every nation will march into heaven, celebrating the beginning of something much more significant than the Olympics. They will be celebrating the beginning of eternity in the Presence of God!

After all the athletes enter comes the finale… the Olympic Torch enters and the Olympic Flame is lit.
This too thrills me, as I think about the Light of the World who will be presented in all His power and glory on that great day. From that point on, there will be no need of the sun, "for the glory of God gives the light!" (Revelation 21:23)
So I see more in the opening ceremony that meets the eye. Through eyes of faith I see a great future event… and I see myself as one of those saints marching in!
And my gold medal awaits. Yes!
