Repurposed Dresser Drawer

Only 3 drawers to this dresser survived, (and a huge mirror) so rather than call it a complete loss I wanted to do something special with them. Well so far it's only the one, but I have plans for the others!

Sorry I don't have any pictures of the full dresser, only what survived...

I painted the outside with Chalk paint, a coat of white, then Turquoise, and distressed it some with sandpaper

I love how it turned out! I can use it like this on a tabletop or

on the wall, it hangs either horizontal or vertical

I painted the inside with Chalkboard paint, and lined the sides with a yardstick

Below is a picture with my Bed spring Chalk holder

DIY - Easter Photo Shoot

Happy Easter

One Beautiful Granddaughter and a few Dollar Tree props, add in a  Painted Vintage Suitcase, and you have a Great Easter Photo Shoot, (for about $5.00) a fraction of what it would cost to have a professional do them.

It would cost a fortune to have professional pictures taken to mark each Month and each Holiday...

Plus I get to have fun with it all!
I love putting the little "scenes" together, posing her it's just fun!

Now I know these are nowhere near the quality you get with a Professional, but when on a tight budget...

I just have a cheap point and shoot Camera, but I think it captures the "Moment in Time"

Just look at that face!

and those toes!

We've done her Christmas Pictures, Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, and now I'm planning her "April Showers" Photo shoot

Still waiting on Spring!

Even though the calendar says spring... The weatherman is predicting yet another WINTER SNOW STORM! So while I anxiously await the arrival of the real Spring, I thought I would entertain myself with some pictures from last years Spring.

After winter it is always so cheerful to bring in the Spring! Combining the freshness of Flowers with "old" and Rust is one of my favorite ways to freshen things up.

Spring, a time of New Beginnings, an easy little project, a small birds nest made from chicken wire and moss, with a few little clay eggs.

Fresh Ivy from the yard adds a little green touch to the fresh daffodils. One of best things about my Spring display is that it didn't cost me a dime, I had everything I needed, just needed to shop around the house!

I made the "He is Risen" Wreath from a small grapevine wreath, some moss and twigs from the yard, what better way to say All things are new again!

Valentine's Day Vignette * DIY Projects

Today I'm sharing a Valentine's Day Vignette from last year, using a few easy projects

I made a few Cupid Arrows using sticks from the woods and some pages from an old Book. I coated the sticks with glue and sprinkled with Epsom Salts, to give them a little shimmery snow effect.

Cut the book pages into arrow heads and feathers (double thick to make them 2-sided) Super quick, Super easy, and Super Cheap. Just my kind of craft!

I printed a few Graphics from the Graphic Fairy and lined the lid of my Grandfather's old Tool Chest

The clock face is an old CD, with clock face I printed...

A Dollar Tree Glass Candle, and Vase gets another print and Epsom Salts, dyed red with food coloring. It's sitting on an old Electrical Insulator, wrapped with Twine

Cozy Winter Mantel

Most of my Christmas is neatly packed away, I did save a few things that I thought would work for with my Winter Decor

and borrowed a few things from around the house.. to create a warm cozy Mantel Display

A few things even came in from outside

I hesitated a little with using the red accent, thought it might be a little too Christmasy, but I liked it so it stayed, at least for now.

I just love all the Mason Jar, waterless snow globes all over pinterest, so I had to do a couple, just some Epsom salts and Dollar Tree, Bottle trees, with a snowflake in the back. I topped them off with a little glass votive candle (stole the small one from my bathroom, it had q-tips and cotton balls in it)

Just added a few rusty Treasures... and my little Snowman "Springy"

Springy is made from an old bed spring, an burnt out light bulb (his head) his scarff and hat are an old sweater I cut up and sprinkled with epson salt

Dear 2012 me...Folk Journaling

FOLK Magazine January Journal Prompts

Dear 2012 me...

You mean 2012 is over? But I never... I didn't get a chance to... All those plans, all those dreams.
2012 was going to be my year! I was going to make my Dreams come true.

Maybe you spent too much time wishing and dreaming and not enough time planning and working.

Now wait a minute, I did some planning, I did work hard, just maybe not hard enough. Dreams are hard work. Just figuring out what my dreams are, is hard work.

Let's take a look back through 2012, and see what you (my 2012 self) was up to.

You opened an Etsy Store – and you actually sold some things!

You completed quite a few projects... both to sell and to keep

You restarted your blog – after your blog was deleted, you had to think long and hard whether it was worth “restoring” or not. Yes, it brought you joy. Yes you enjoyed it...No, you can't say it was particularly successful.. and it was very time consuming. You asked yourself some hard questions. Was losing your blog a sign, a sign that you shouldn't be trying this? Were you too far out of your comfort zone? Did God want you to stop? Should you be spending your time more wisely?

Well, I still don't know the answers to most of those questions, but I do know I Love it! I feel closer to God, than I have in a long time, so maybe he's on board with this blog thing.. And stepping outside my comfort zone is good, right?

You put yourself out there, to succeed or fail...

I have learned so much! I have so much to learn!

I am still here to live another day, to take on another year, look out 2013, I'm ready~and I'm excited!
