Birdfeeder from Old Lighting

I have 4 of these lights, 3 upright and one wall mount, someone was throwing them out, can you imagine? I love them. I kept them original for awhile, I used them on my mantel last year for Fall and for Christmas.

I used them in displays with my flowers

I decided to paint one, for my Aqua Garden...

This one had several broken pains of glass, so I decided it make a good bird feeder. A super easy transition.

I painted this one also, and glued a little dish with a bird on light stem, that's it. That's all I did, just add birdseed, and the Birds love it!

Here it sits on top of a post, I still need to have it permanently mounted

Thank you for visiting with me today, hopefully you have been inspired in some small way...

Fall Harvest Mantel - A little Paint is all it takes

I finished decorating my Mantel for Fall

I just kept it simple this year, total cost $0, since that is what my budget is

I had everything I used, I did paint the pumpkins and Shutters, I wanted to go with Fall colors, but not bright. I mixed a little rust paint with yellow, added a little brown, to make the mustard color. Added  some un-sanded grout to make it "chalk" paint. I think I like the results

I spray painted an old gold candlestick black, then saned off some of the black to expose the gold

The Indian corn I picked up over the summer at yard sales for 50 cents

The deer horns are my husbands, old books, an old camera, brought in from other rooms in the house

An old cage sits on spray painted candle holder, both previous thrift store finds

The dried hydrangeas and pine cones are from my yard

Beside the fireplace is an old Army Locker (I think) from my Grandfathers garage

The Goose is from my Dad he had a small collection of Duck's Unlimited carvings

I haven't finished the hearth, yet...

Have a wonderful Day!

Rusty Mailbox Memories

759, the address of the Home where I grew up, below is the mailbox that stood at the end of driveway. My Dad's name proudly sits on top, still in the original white paint, still the original numbers, everything the way it was so many years ago, with the exception of the location. It now sits (as of a few days ago) about half way back our little lane, on an old stump, beside my Father-in-law's old mailbox.

When my Father-in-law passed away over twenty years ago my husband saved his mailbox, then when my Dad passed away about five years later, I did the same. It didn't seem right to just pitch them...and I always new I'd find some way to use them.

Last Christmas I grabbed the one and used it in a outdoor display, and then it was tucked away in the shed that has been their home  for years.

One day I saw a picture of a stump with flowers on pinterest, and immediately knew, what I would be doing with our old Family Mailboxes. They finally have a home.

Side by side they proudly sit, a gentle reminder of the past, I see every day when I drive back our little lane.

I can't wait to deck them out for all the up-coming Holidays

I think it's important to remember our past and pass those memories onto our Children and Grandchildren.

and I love to combine decorating and memory keeping
